Two Ohio State students taken into custody after Dublin carjacking

DUBLIN, OH (WCMH) -Two Ohio State students are facing charges of aggravated robbery after a carjacking outside a gym on Hard Road in Dublin.

Dublin Police and Columbus SWAT officers ran a joint operation early Wednesday morning to apprehend both suspects out of Tuesday’s carjacking.

The very first suspect, Dominique Burrell, Nineteen, of Dublin, was arrested a house on the six thousand block of Memorial Drive. Police said he does not live at the residence.

Adam Seitz, Legal, of Dublin, was arrested by Ohio State University Police at Hitchcock Hall on campus early Wednesday morning.

The university said both youthfull studs are students. Seitz is majoring in computer science and engineering. Burrell is listed with a major in criminology, criminal justice studies and sociology.

The reported carjacking happened shortly before 7:30pm along the three thousand eight hundred block of Hard Road.

A caller told 911, “Someone just robbed someone with a gun in the parking lot.”

Police said the two fellows stole a black Honda Accord from the victims and then took off heading north on Emerald Parkway. The car was recovered a brief time later.

The victim was taken to Dublin Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another victim was involved, but uninjured.

Dublin Police Lieutenant Steve Farmer described the incident as a drug deal that turned violent and said all four dudes knew one another.

“It’s in a kind of a retail area, so I understand people’s initial fear,” Farmer said. “But Dublin is a safe area, very low crime rate, this was—these were four individuals who knew each other prior and it was undoubtedly targeted. People are safe.”

Doug Baker, public information officer for Dublin City Schools, confirmed both Seitz and Burrell were two thousand sixteen graduates of Dublin Jerome High School.

Neither suspect has a prior record in Franklin County, according to a search of municipal and common prayers court records. The two are set to be arraigned Thursday morning on charges of aggravated robbery.
