Maysville man arrested for alleged creative car theft

A Maysville man was arrested in Aberdeen, Ohio, for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

According to police, on Feb. 28, Justin D. Davis, 33, of East 2nd Street, had allegedly left St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, after drug addiction treatment. He allegedly took the chance to take a vehicle from a hospital visitor, under the pretense of being a parking valet.

Edgewood police filed a complaint against Davis on March 7.

According to reports, Davis took the car so he could go to Cincinnati to purchase drugs, and told Brown County deputies he had been at the hospital seeking help with a heroin addiction.

After driving to a store parking lot in Maysville, Davis allegedly met a friend, and another man who claimed he could provide drugs if Davis took him to Aberdeen.

After receiving a report on the incident from Edgewood, Maysville Police Lt. Justin Horch checked the area in Maysville where Davis may have been, then traveled to Aberdeen and met up with Aberdeen Police Officer Anthony Mountjoy.

“(Mountjoy) said he had dealt with Davis a few days before,” Horch said, and the two officers checked locations in the Aberdeen area. “At the 2nd place we looked, he was standing right there by the car.”

Davis was arrested by Brown County deputies and is presently in the Brown County Jail, Horch said.

Davis was arraigned March two and placed on a $Ten,000 cash bond. He has a preliminary hearing March sixteen in Brown County Ohio Municipal Court.

According to police, Davis claimed he intended to comeback the car.
