Witnesses observed a man driving in a white pickup truck running a crimson light traffic signals and swerving his vehicle at the intersection ofВ Laguna Boulevard and Bruceville Road. Shortly after, officers from the Elk Grove Police Department observed the same motorist traveling the wrong way on a one-way roadway at about Ten:00 pm. This happened moments before the driver crashed into three other vehicles in the neighborhood of Elk Grove Boulevard and Wymark Drive. Authorities indicated that the motorist of the vehicle that was traveling the wrong way had fled from the scene of the accident.

The following movie displays the severe extent of the wrong-way collision. As you can see in the movie, a tow truck was loading the vehicles involved in the automobile accident in order to tow them from the scene. One of the vehicles, a 2- door champagne Toyota Tacoma, sustained major figure harm which prompted the airbag deployment in the steering wheel.В The wrong-way driver of the white pickup was identified as 41-year-old Daniel Landeros from Elk Grove.
Wrong Way Driver Resists Arrest
Officers were able to confront Landeros but when they attempted to detain him, he resisted his arrest. After officers continued to cooperate with the fight to detain him, hisВ aggressive behavior prompted officials to utilize a taser. After the taser was used, he struggled to prevent authorities from detaining him in handcuffs. When he was ultimately in police custody, he became unresponsive.
The occupants of the three other vehicles that were involved in this accident sustained minor to moderate injuries. Daniel Landeros, the motorist of the wrong-way vehicle that was detained by officers, became unresponsive while in police custody. Officers contacted paramedics for medical assistance after performing CPR on him. Landeros was transported to the hospital where he later passed away.
