2018 Mustang Refresh
The time has come and the two thousand eighteen Ford Mustang has ultimately been officially released. With the help of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ford Motor Company, the two thousand eighteen Mustang was debuted with a very touching story from Marlene Rodriguez, a well-deserving U.S. combat veteran.
Albeit the exterior switches to the two thousand eighteen Mustang may seem subtle aside from the the front fascia, rest assured there are many fresh features and technological advances in the S550’s mid-cycle refresh. Some of which include, but are not limited to a higher horsepower and torquier dual-injected Five.0L Coyote Engine for the GT, more torque for the Two.3L EcoBoost engine thanks to an overboost feature, upgraded MT-82 transmission, available heated steering wheel, utter digital LCD instrument cluster, available Active Valve Spectacle Harass, available 10-Speed Automatic Transmission and available MagneRide damping system from the GT350 and GT350R. Woodward Wish Cruise & Mustang Alley (8/22/2017)
The two thousand eighteen Mustang was debuted over seven months ago at this point. With that said, we’re getting closer and closer to that ultimate point when the Mustang’s latest refresh will hit showroom floors across the world. Until then, travelling and eyeing these cars at Ford and Ford Spectacle displays will have to do for now.
After getting the chance to be able to see the two thousand eighteen Mustang up close, including the underside, we were able to snap a few photos and truly get a seize on what Ford’s latest rendition of America’s dearest pony car will look and feel like once it hits showroom floors.
My individual dearest part about the fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang has to be the addition of technology. Yes, the price tag is higher on the 2018, but you’re getting a ton of fresh tech to go with it. The all-new LCD Digital Instrument Cluster, Active Harass and MagneRide Damping System are all features that were never available on the two thousand seventeen Mustang. Not to mention the addition of direct injection to the GT’s Five.0L Coyote engine – which should supply a noticeable punch in low-end torque over the outgoing Gen two Coyote. Aside from the pancake of an engine cover, this is a fresh technology that we’re fairly excited about!
On top of that, a lot of the colors look excellent out in the sunlight. Orange Fury may have a little too much yellow for my liking, but Royal Crimson looks classy out in the sunlight. Kona Blue certainly doesn’t disappoint either!
2018 Mustang GT Quiet Mode & Quiet Commence (8/1/2017)
If you’ve ever wielded a Mustang, or any muscle car for that matter, then you’ve most likely had to deal those neighbors that may not be the largest fan of your All-American V8 under the bondage mask. Steve von Foerster, former head of vehicle engineering for Ford Motor Company, has been in your footwear as well. He even had the cops called on him due to his excessively noisy GT350!
Taking into account that he knew his car was noisy and that everyone wasn’t the thickest fan of their picture frames rattling on the wall on a quiet Sunday morning, Von Foerster came up with the idea of a Quiet Harass Mode and industry-first Quiet Begin. These fresh features will be available on two thousand eighteen Mustang GTs tooled with the optional active harass system.
According to a latest poll from Ranker.com, noisy engine revving is one of the top complaints from many neighborhoods across then nation. Ford took this into their own mitts by using the all-new active harass valves to quiet the harass when needed, so you can exit your neighborhood calmly until you’re at a safe distance to open it up!
This fresh feature drops the sound level of the fresh Mustang GT by ten decibels to a much more tolerable seventy two decibels – which is the equivalent of a dishwasher! Not too shabby for a car that will now outrun the $90,000+ Porsche nine hundred eleven Carrera from 0-60 MPH!
2018 Mustang Horsepower Numbers (7/24/2017)
The time is ultimately here! We’re beyond excited to hear that Ford has eventually officially released the power numbers for the two thousand eighteen Mustang GT and EcoBoost! Without further adieu, check them out!
2018 Mustang GT Horsepower/Torque: four hundred sixty horsepower and four hundred twenty lb.-ft. of torque
2018 Mustang EcoBoost Horsepower/Torque: three hundred ten horsepower and three hundred fifty lb.-ft. of torque
On top of that, Ford has incorporated a Haul Disrobe Mode into the all-new 10-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission-equipped GTs which is designed to give maximum power, traction and shift points all delivered through the fresh Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires!
Perhaps what we’re most excited about is the 0-60 MPH time that is achieved through the extra power courtesy of the redesigned dual-fuel injection Five.0L Coyote Engine, along with the fresh Michelin tires, 10-speed transmission and Haul Disrobe Mode. The two thousand eighteen Mustang GT is able to outrun a Porsche nine hundred eleven to sixty mph in less than four seconds along with the EcoBoost which isn’t far behind at less than five seconds!

2018 Mustang EcoBoost Pony Package Specs! (7/Ten/2017)
The Mustang’s Pony Package has been revamped for the two thousand eighteen model year! Like past Pony Package Mustangs, this will not be available on the GT, only the EcoBoost. Perhaps most notably about the two thousand eighteen Mustang Pony Package is the front upper grille which will now include the pony surrounded by a chrome corral.
We’ve seen the running pony surrounded by the chrome corral in different forms over the years, including on the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition and Appearance Package cars in 2015. We’re glad Ford is paying homage to one of the defining qualities that made the Mustang special in the 1960s!
Some other things to note on the two thousand eighteen Mustang EcoBoost Pony Package are fresh 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, chrome beltline and window trim for the Fastback models, special floor mats, side stripes and a Tri-Bar pony on the rear decklid — now sporting the crimson, white and blue stripes!
Ford has also confirmed that the two thousand eighteen Mustang is due in showrooms in October!
2018 Mustang Order Guide Companion Leaked! (7/7/2017)
Thanks to Mustang6G user “disneyfun1,” we were able to get a peek of the fresh Order Guide Companion for two thousand eighteen Ford vehicles. He was only able to scan the Mustang section of the pamphlet, but let’s be fair – that’s all we want to see!
There aren’t many fresh things to note that we don’t already know when it comes to the fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang. However, we are able to see a duo fresh packages available on the Msutang’s latest model year that weren’t available from 2015-2017.
Very first off, the EcoBoost Wheel and Stripe Package, sports some fresh stripes for the two thousand eighteen model year. The wheels themselves look to be recycled from the 2015-2017 model year on many EcoBoost cars, however, the stripes are fresh! We spotted these stripes earlier on a Shadow Black EcoBoost.
Next up is the EcoBoost and GT Spectacle Packages. The fattest difference to note for the Spectacle Packages is the addition of the Rear Wing Spoiler on Fastback models only. This is different than 2015-2017 models in which Spectacle Package models actually had the spoiler deleted.
Last, but certainly not least is the all-new Carbon Sport Interior Package! With the Mustang getting sportier and sportier as every year goes by, Ford is paying attention to what their customers and enthusiasts are doing with modifications. One outstanding fact about S550 owners since its debut in 2015, is that Carbon Fiber has become fairly popular for any aftermarket add-on whether it’s a spandex hood, shift knob or spoiler. With that said, this Carbon Sport Interior Package includes a Carbon Fiber Instrument Panel and Shift Knob along with Black Black Seats with Alcantara inserts and Alcantara door inserts. Pretty cool having Carbon Fiber come from the factory on a Mustang!
Euro-Spec two thousand eighteen Mustang EcoBoost Spotted! (7/6/2017)
Thanks to our friends over at Mustang6G, their member “Ace” was able to snag some photos of the EU-Spec two thousand eighteen Mustang EcoBoost prototype! From these two photos, there indeed aren’t many surprising switches in comparison to the US-Spec Mustangs we’ve seen so far this year.
Just like the 2015-2017 Mustangs, we’re witnessing the same clear tail lights, rear decklid emblem, rear fog/switch roles light housing, larger side mirrors and revised headlights. However, one thing we were expecting were the daytime running lights (DRL’s) that many Euro-Spec Mustang owners have been screaming for over the past duo years. We’ll just have to wait and see on the production models if Ford delivered on their requests.
One last thing to note is the fact that the car pictured below is a EU-Spec two thousand eighteen Mustang EcoBoost. If you check out the front wheel, you’ll see the GT Spectacle Package brakes behind the fresh, stylish black 19” wheel. Are the larger 6-Piston Brembo Brakes going to be standard or even optional on Euro-Spec Mustang EcoBoost models? Or is this just a one-off prototype? Only time will tell!
2018 Mustang EcoBoost Comes With Line Lock! (6/28/2017)
One complaint from many 2015-2017 Mustang EcoBoost owners is the lack of the line-lock feature that’s standard on the GT. Ford and Ford Spectacle listened and answered with the two thousand eighteen EcoBoost Mustang! The best part is that this feature will be standard across all models including the Two.3L EcoBoost Mustangs!
Yes, that even includes Mustangs with the fresh 10-Speed SelectShift automatic transmission! To make this feature even cooler for the two thousand eighteen model year, Ford added a spinning tire animation to the programming. So, if your two thousand eighteen Mustang has the available 12-inch, all-digital instrument display, you’ll be able to see a spinning wheel kicking up smoke when the Line Lock feature is enabled.
For those that are nosey what Line Lock is, how it works and what exactly it’s used for, just know that it’s not just because us Mustang enthusiasts like spinning tires! There’s actually a point to “warming up” the tires. In haul racing, the idea is to use the now-standard Line Lock feature to warm up the tires before pulling up the the embarking line. By doing a quick burnout, you’re heating the rubber up for maximum traction upon launch when that light goes green. Pretty cool, right?
Ford and Ford Spectacle have been truly pushing the EcoBoost program since its inception around 2010; and with good success! With many S550 EcoBoost owners haul racing their cars with goopy tires on the back and slew of modifications, it only makes sense to add this feature to the two thousand eighteen EcoBoost Mustang. We surely can’t wait to attempt it out ourselves!
Photoshoot Exposes Fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang GT Rev Limiter (6/15/2017)
As the two thousand eighteen Mustang comes closer and closer to a dealership lot near you, Ford is beginning to put together their press materials for the launch. This includes photoshoots! Thanks to a a few people on scene who were able to capture some fresh photos of the two thousand eighteen Mustang and our friends over at Mustang6G, we were also able to grab a photo of the interior of a two thousand eighteen Mustang GT without the digital gauge cluster. This means we were able to see the fresh rev limiter in plain glance!
For Coyote Mustang fans, one of the best things about this Ti-VCT Five.0L V8 Engine from Ford is how it wakes up in the top part of the power band. Up until 2017, the joy ended around 6,900 RPM on the GT. Then, with the introduction of the flat-plane-crank on the Five.2L Voodoo Engine in the GT350, enthusiasts around the world got a taste of what a 8,250 RPM rev limiter was like in a Mustang. Now, the fresh GT won’t have a flat-plane-crank, but it will have direct injection with fairly possibly helped Ford raise that rev limiter an extra 500-600 RPM.
What does this mean for those who are looking to buy a two thousand eighteen Mustang GT? Well, you’ll not only get the power increase (which we still don’t have official numbers for, unluckily), but you’ll also get to see that extra power increase for longer as the rev limiter has been raised. Not to mention, with the addition of dual injection (port-side and direct), tuners will indeed be able to dial in what they want out of the next-generation Coyote engine. It will surely be interesting to see what this fresh revision of the Five.0L is capable of once it’s released.
Lightning Blue & Royal Crimson Photographed (Five/9/2017)
Thanks to @joeyde313 and @toastedpirate on Instagram, we are able to see a duo more photos of the fresh colors being sported on the two thousand eighteen Mustang. And we have to say, these colors are certainly growing on us! At very first, it seemed as tho’ Royal Crimson was more of a traditional, Ruby Red-type color. But when paired with black accents such as the black wheels, the two thousand eighteen Mustang can look fairly aggressive dressed in Royal Crimson!
Ford Released two thousand eighteen Mustang Fleet Brochures (Five/Four/2017)
Ford posted up the two thousand eighteen model year fleet brochures on their website, so we were able to take a look at some fresh information regarding the two thousand eighteen Mustang. Albeit we don’t get a look at the “TBD” horsepower and torque numbers, we are able to see the curb weight which sheds some light on what we’re going to be dealing with when pitting the two thousand eighteen Mustang up against other potentially lighter cars in its class.
The very first thing that popped out at us for the brochure page was that in the Available Packages section, there was only one option for each engine when it comes to the Spectacle Package. This contradicts the rumors we’ve heard of there being two spectacle package options.
Orange Fury two thousand eighteen Mustang Photographed Outside! (Four/27/2017)
After watching this photo of two two thousand eighteen Mustangs in the fresh Orange Fury paint, thanks to Mustang6G user disneyfun1, we have an idea of what this color will look like in sunlight. And it certainly is fairly different than what Orange Fury appeared to the eye and camera lens under the bright fluorescent lights of the Virginia International Auto Display back in February.
Not going to lie, this fresh color looks much better under some real sunlight, rather than the artificial light everyone spotted from the auto shows. Regardless, we are very excited to see this fresh color, among other colors like Royal Crimson and Lead Foot Gray, out on the roads this Fall!
Lead Foot Gray on two thousand eighteen GT350 Spotted (Four/25/2017)
Before you crank out and say this isn’t a two thousand eighteen Mustang, reminisce that Ford came out and announced that the GT350 will receive no fresh exterior upgrades for the two thousand eighteen model year. With that said, thanks to Mustang6G member, Bosshog, we were able to catch a peek of a GT350 in the all-new Lead Foot Gray.
Being a bit darker than the outgoing Avalanche Gray, it’s certainly a bit more aggressive. Especially when paired with the black racing stripes.
Royal Crimson, Shadow Black and Lightning Blue two thousand eighteen Mustangs Spotted
The all-new two thousand eighteen Mustang is getting spotted more and more now that it’s officially been debuted and the days and months of two thousand seventeen are marching by quickly. Thanks to Mustang6G user Jarstang, we are able to get a more familiar with the look of this freshly redesigned two thousand eighteen Mustang.
As you can see from these photos, there are a duo fresh styling cues that could be a clue of what will be available down the road on the two thousand eighteen Mustang order sheets. For example, on the Shadow Black EcoBoost, you can see that there are silver accent stripes that run along the assets line across the fender/door and rear quarter panel. Similar to the already popular two thousand fifteen Mustang Side Stripes, you can see the similarities inbetween the two options.
You can also see from the side profile of the Royal Crimson EcoBoost (which is a classy color, by the way!), that it’s sporting the 2015-2017 Mustang EcoBoost Spectacle Package 4-Piston Brakes. If they’re sticking to that ideology, these wheels could be the wheels you would get with the Spectacle Package on the EcoBoost for 2018. However, it has the same pedestal spoiler as the rest, so it could go either way.
Potential two thousand eighteen GT500 Mule Spied Up Close!
Thanks to Jay159866 over on Mustang6G, we were able to see a duo up-close spy photos of the GT500 mule. Still strongly camouflaged, we aren’t entirely sure if this is indeed the GT500, or a variant of the GT350R. However, many sources and visual cues point to the fact that this could indeed be the fresh Shelby we all have been waiting for.
Very first off, we aren’t entirely sure if this will be a two thousand eighteen or two thousand nineteen model year release. Considering the release of the two thousand eighteen Refresh has come on gone, it could be a two thousand nineteen model year release, but only time will tell. Ford Adds Pedestrian Detection System To two thousand eighteen Mustang
While we all know that the Mustang memes are floating around poking joy at bad drivers who happen to own Mustangs, Ford has taken matters into their own palms in aiding something that 81% of European drivers are afraid of — driving at night.
It’s not just children that are afraid of the dark. It’s fairly clear that adults are too since many clearly choose not to drive at night if they don’t have to. To shed some light on what is being considered a global issue, more than one out of five road fatalities were pedestrians, almost half of which were caused by accidents at night. In the US, that number is even higher at 75% of motor-vehicle related pedestrian deaths happening after dark via 2015.
Ford’s Pedestrian Detection uses radar mounted within the front bumper along with a windshield-mounted camera to hopefully see pedestrians before you do in an effort to drive down these sad and unnecessary accidents across the globe. Using a database of “pedestrian shapes,” this system will be able to determine whether the object in front of the vehicle is an actual person or just another street sign. If the system is able to determine that a pedestrian is in front of the vehicle and the driver does not react, the system will automatically apply the brakes.
This cutting edge Pedestrian Detection technology will be available later this year on the next-generation Fiesta in Europe. This feature will hit North American roads with the debut of the fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang and two thousand eighteen F-150.
2018 Mustang GT Engine Bay SPIED! (Three/16/2017)
It’s crazy to think that it has already been two months since the two thousand eighteen Mustang was officially debuted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson when he gifted the car to a very deserving veteran. Now that the details of the fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang have been released, many have been itching to see what the engine bay, specifically of the GT, looks like. This is due to the fresh addition of direct injection which is rumored to increase horsepower to four hundred fifty five or potentially higher.
Thanks to TFLCar.com, we now have a good look at what the engine bay is going to look like on the two thousand eighteen Mustang GT. With a revised engine cover that is thicker and covers more area, it’s rough to indeed see what the combination of port and direct fuel injection will look like under the rubber hood.
It’s clear that this photo, taken at the Kansas City International Auto Demonstrate, is a pre-production prototype vehicle. The largest giveaway are the mismatching panels – a crimson fender and silver shock towers. This isn’t uncommon since the rubber hood typically isn’t popped on Ford’s pre-production cars anyways.
We are excited to see what comes of this. Maybe this spy photo can potentially budge the date up for when Ford officially releases the two thousand eighteen Mustang horsepower numbers!
Orange Fury GT On Display At Virginia International Auto Display
Fresh two thousand eighteen Mustang Convertible Debut (1/20/2017)
It was only a matter of time after the unveiling of the all-new two thousand eighteen Mustang on Tuesday, 1/17, that the Convertible was to come shortly thereafter. And here it is!
There is no question that the all-new two thousand eighteen Mustang in convertible form is sleeker and more refined with the revised front end, extra wheel options and other subtle touches that undoubtedly take the Mustang to the next level.

Ford Hints At Boss three hundred two in two thousand eighteen Mustang Press Photos (1/Eighteen/2017)
Yesterday, in surfing through some of the photos that Ford included in the press release for the two thousand eighteen Mustang, we came across a potential easter egg! In the top left-hand corner, you can see another Mustang in the background of the photo shown below. If you look closely, you can see it is clearly sporting the Boss three hundred two striping well known from the early model Boss 302’s all the way up to the most latest two thousand twelve and two thousand thirteen model years.
So what do you think? This could mean a Boss three hundred two is destined for the two thousand nineteen or two thousand twenty model years before the S650 planned for the two thousand twenty one model year. If this does happen, it will be interesting to see where the Boss three hundred two will fall on the lineup, considering the GT350 and GT350R are truly the pinnacle of a track-oriented Mustang. We will be sure to keep you updated as more information surfaces. Regardless, we are enormously excited about what’s to come!
2018 Mustang Officially Unveiled At The Detroit Auto Demonstrate (1/17/2017)
As of 11:00 AM EST on January 17, 2017, the two thousand eighteen Mustang was officially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Display in Michigan. With the touching story from The Rock and Marlene, a decorated combat veteran, Ford truly did well with the all-new expose.
Now that we have some high-resolution photos, we can describe some of the similarities and differences to give you a better idea of what you can expect to see once this all-new model hits the showroom floors very soon!

There are simply just too many puny, but tasteful switches to name. At very first, there were many that didn’t like when the two thousand fifteen Mustang debuted with such drastic switches from the S197 platform. However, we think in due time the all-new two thousand eighteen Mustang will grow on everyone, including us!

The Rock Suprises A US Veteran With The All-New two thousand eighteen Mustang (1/17/2017)
In a very touching story behind a combat veteran, Marlene, was awarded the Go Further Award by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on behalf of Ford along with an all-new two thousand eighteen Ford Mustang GT.
Through some of these up-close shots, there are some shots of an all-new digital gauge cluster and some more detailed shots of the front and rear fascia with quad-tip harass and totally re-worked snout.

2018 Mustang Social Media Leaks And Unconfirmed Reports (1/16/2017)
Just this afternoon, there have been some unconfirmed movies and photos floating around on social media and other news outlets with the running footage of the claimed two thousand eighteen Mustang GT with the Spectacle Package in what looks to be Triple Yellow.
We haven’t been able to confirm any of these reports, however. For that reason, we will only share a screenshot of the movie that has surfaced. Once we are able to confirm these reports, we will surely update you with the latest information on the two thousand eighteen Ford Mustang GT and other models!
2018 Shelby GT350/GT350R To Demonstrate Only Exterior Color Switches (12/Nineteen/2016)
According to a dealer sign-up sheet provided by user btown93 on Mustang6G, it shows up as if the two thousand eighteen Shelby GT350/GT350R will only see exterior color switches. What exactly does this mean? Well, this document implies that the Shelby GT350 and GT350R will not see any design refreshments as the EcoBoost and GT are set to see for the two thousand eighteen model year. If this is the case, the GT350 and GT350R styling will retain the same general looks as the 2015-2017 model years, but with a two thousand eighteen VIN Number.
This has been seen with the late model Camaro a few years back. The RS and SS got the exterior aesthetic upgrades, whereas the ZL1 kept the same front end as the previous generation Camaro. There are various reasons as to why this could have occured, but for the two thousand eighteen Shelby’s case, it’s more than likely for functional reasons. Upon its debut, the Shelby GT350 and GT350R witnessed fully fresh sheet metal north of the firewall. This would mean that for the two thousand eighteen refresh, Ford and Ford Spectacle would have to design, develop and manufacture another front end for the GT350/GT350R. This could potentially mean that the GT350 and GT350R could soon be on the way out and substituted by a beefier GT500, or the resources simply weren’t there to develop fresh sheet metal for the Shelby. Regardless of the reasoning, we’re excited to see what this means for the GT350 in upcoming model years. Only time will tell!
2018 Mustang MagneRide, Fresh Colors, Spectacle Packages and More! (Ten/28/2016)
Thanks to XKRJAG on Mustang6G, we were able to find out some more information on the very rumored two thousand eighteen Mustang Refresh. Very first and foremost, there seems to be an option suggested for MagneRide on the EcoBoost and GT models! Coming from the GT350, this will surely prove to step up the treating capabilities of these non-Shelby pony cars. On top of that, through process of elimination in Ford`s Ordering System, the V6 is likely no longer available after the two thousand seventeen model year.
There will also be a host of fresh colors available for the Mustang come two thousand eighteen including the loved Kona Blue from the two thousand fifteen 50th Anniversary Models, Orange Fury and Royal Crimson. For Shelby models, it seems Avalanche Gray has been substituted with Lead Foot Gray, along with the suggesting of Orange Fury as well. Unluckily, it seems Ford has made Grabber Blue a one-year run, as it does not seem to be on the list for the two thousand eighteen models.
Additionally, there seems to be the option of two different spectacle packages. This could either potentially be the difference inbetween the EcoBoost Spectacle Package and GT Spectacle Package that we have been eyeing since 2015, or a more track-oriented spectacle package that turns up the dial similar to the Camaro`s 1LE.
On top of that, there seems to be the option for a Carbon Sport Package. With the rise of popularity in Carbon Fiber parts, such as the Anderson Composites parts we used on our two thousand sixteen SEMA Car, this could be a hint at some carbon fiber Ford parts featured on the Mustang right off the dealership floor!
