Two people were killed Sunday night when a sedan crashed into the northeast section of Wyoming Medical Center. A third person was in critical condition.

The crash, which occurred shortly before seven p.m., closed 2nd Street from Wilson to Washington streets in both directions. Casper police Capt. Steve Freel said the street will likely be blocked off for much of the night as investigators work the scene.

A green Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling east on 2nd Street when it crashed into the hospital. The large concrete columns near the corner of the hospital were bruised in the wreck.

Freel said hospital staff responded to the crash instantly.

Casper police are working to identify the victims and the cause of the crash, Freel said. There were few witnesses to the incident. Anyone who witnessed the vehicle crash into the hospital is asked to call the police station at 307-235-8278.

Wyoming Medical Center’s emergency room remained open following the wreck, but the emergency entrance is closed until further notice.

For instant access, the public is asked to use the parking lot located inbetween Conwell and Wilson streets, east of the hospital.

No hospital staff members were injured in the accident.

Nasty. You can see in the very first photo the windshield extends out about Ten” where the driver attempted to go through it. High speed and no seat belt played a role in his/her demise.

Got to love how Casper P D Is standing around at the scene of a fatal accident doing nothing. Why are they not enforcing the speed limit on 2nd St. before accidents happen? Why are they not providing out tickets to drivers who fail to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles and, speed up and, down 2nd St. at all hous of the day and, night?

oh. I didn’t realize you were an investigator on the scene. There is not much CASPER PD can do when the subject is dead on arrival. This happened right in front of the Emergency Department where emergency physicians were on scene and did what they could. You have no idea when these photos were taken. Casper PD did their part. Cut them some slack. There is more behind the scenes that Casper PD does that they do and do not get recognized for. We only hear about the negative.

Not, Gee, i wonder how many crimes happened while your hero’s at CPD were attempting to rescue that cat out of the tree on 2nd St.a duo of months ago? That sure must be alot more significant than shootings, stabbings and, speeding tickets, or any other crimes in Casper, right?

Casper PD does enforce the speed limit, but when they receive a call of a shooting or a domestic dispute. I feel like that may take precedence. or maybe they should notify dispatch that ,”hey I cant take this call due to a speeding disturbance, I’ll deal with the shooting where someone is dying or the wifey/spouse who was just stabbed to death when I am finished writing a speeding ticket”
