I moved out of the Bay Area one year ago but am still a long time loyal KTVU viewer thanks to the app. I appreciate that the “live” movie will replay if there is no actual live broadcast at that time. Albeit it does fail to play on occasion telling that the movie is unavailable. But I am very glad that I can still observe most of the time. However, there are a duo of things that annoy me about the news alerts that are shoved to my phone. Please do not send a shove notification if there is no story on the app yet. It is indeed frustrating when I see an alert that I want details on and find myself having to search KTVU competitor websites to get the story. Also, please evaluate which notifications go out. Some contain errors (with spelling or even content), some are indeed not worthy, some worthy stories are missed, and some are just ridiculous. For example, I eyed one that read, “Coroner says victim in accident has died.” Well, that’s pretty demonstrable if the coroner was there. But what accident? Where did it happen? Was it a car accident? Plane? Train? Oil refinery? So many questions. and no story on the app to find out. I guess we will never know.
I always get notification of violating news that just happened but when you click the notification, the app isn’t updated with the article. You also only see front half of notification because character limit is exceeded so you don’t get the utter headline and if you click the notification then it vanishes from your phone so you must recall what is was to attempt and search elsewhere and guess the utter headline. It’s like a reality game of news trivia to figure out what cracking news just happened.
I like KTVU Fox two news, that’s why I chose this news app. While I very much love watching the ten o’clock news every night and Mornings on two every morning and truly like the news teams, I don’t love the app as much. It’s not updated very often. A story of a fire posted as “cracking news” for twenty four hours? I don’t think so. I can find more up to date news on NBC Bay Area news app. But I think of myself as a loyal Fox two news viewer. So here I am. I just wish I wasn’t stuck reading yesterday’s news.
